Frequently Asked Questions

Are you Ofsted registered?

No, we are not Ofsted registered. We are not a school , but an AP andwe are not the main place of education for our learners. We work alongside other settings to support an education package.

However, we ensure we remain compliant through regular quality assurance processes undertaken by the Local Authorities and by our commitment to upholding the Voluntary AP Standards (Non-school alternative provision: voluntary national standards – GOV.UK  August 2025) .

As an extension of a learner’s education, Coordinators and SLT/DSLs are happy to take pre-arranged phone calls within office hours in order to support your setting during an Ofsted inspection.

How do I go about doing Quality Assurance on Woodventurers?

Your coordinator will support you with the QA processes. They will help organise a QA visit to the site your learner is attending at a mutually convenient time.  It is helpful for you to have a pre prepared document to complete during the visit, but if you don’t have one, you are welcome to use ours MASTER QA Document Proforma Please note, we are not able to complete forms for you, it is your Quality Assurance on us so you will need to ensure the form meets your requirements and fill in the sections relevant to your learner.

Where will I find key policies and procedures?

Our work is underpinned by robust policies and procedures which all staff are expected to work to. These include policies and procedures specific to our work outdoors and all have a focus on safeguarding and the health and safety of all staff, learners and visitors.

Our core policies and procedures can be found here on our website. If there are any you can’t see and would like us to send over, please contact us.

How do you ensure you and your staff meet all your safeguarding obligations?

All staff complete Level 2 safeguarding and prevent training run by Cambridgeshire County Council.  We run annual in-house safeguarding Professional Development ensuring any policy updates are read and understood by all our staff and contractors. This training runs in line with the latest KCSIE document which all staff are expected to read. We give regular safeguarding updates via our tutor newsletter to ensure all our tutors remain up to date and informed on current information and standards..

We use My Concern to record concerns. All staff and contractors have access to this secure platform and know to report any more urgent issues directly to their DSL. Any concern updates are shared with schools/referrers to ensure continuity of care across settings/AP providers.

What is your recruitment process?

All staff are recruited according to our Safer Recruitment Policy. All staff sitting on interview panels complete Safer Recruitment training. Before starting, all staff/contractors  are expected to complete our onboarding process which includes reading and agreeing to follow all policies and procedures and attending a safeguarding induction.

What about staff DBS information?

We can provide  DBS information for all our staff. All staff have an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the government DBS update service. If our staff are working on your site, you will be sent a safeguarding letter of assurance with their specific DBS details which you can verify on the government website.

How do you gather information about service satisfaction?

Service satisfaction is highly important to us and we strive to maintain high standards and continually improve our service where possible.  We seek regular feedback from learners in sessions to feed into future sessions. This is gleaned in the most suitable way for the learner and includes discussion, scaling systems, scores and observations.  During a programme, we seek ongoing feedback from schools, referrers and parents through regular communication and verbal feedback.  After a programme we use online feedback forms and review any suggestions with a view to improving service delivery wherever possible. Our complaints, comments and compliments procedure is also readily available on our website.

Please feel free to contact us with any further queries.
