What do we do?

Back to home

We view our tutors as a big part of  Woodventurers’ success. Without a strong team, we wouldn’t be the company we are and it is wonderful to see how we all work towards our values.

Our values:

  • Re-engaging learners and supporting attendance
  • Bridging gaps in education and broadening their skill set
  • Encouraging academic learning and overall attainment
  • Developing emotional wellbeing
  • Enabling learners to reach their full potential

We deliver Woodland Learning which is a happy combination of Forest School with Curriclum based Outdoor Learning. Each programme is different and sometimes may lean more towards the Forest School ethos of holistic, learner-led, play based learning with risk elements such as tools and fires but also may be more based around delivering curriculum subjects using a natural space and natural resources. A programme may start more fluidly and as we prepare a learner for school, session content may become more formal. Programme content and delivery evolves organically allowing us to find the best way to help learners to effectively access learning and make progress. Saying that though, pretty much all kids love a campfire and making things with tools so this often becomes an integral part of any programme.

Research

Research shows that learning outside the classroom improves physical health as well as mental health and well-being. These articles make for some interesting reading.
